This series of early learning activity books was published by the Early Learning Centre for sale in their toy shops. The books were aimed at children aged between 3-7years. They were designed using a playful style with a brightly colourful approach suitable for family use at home.
The projects included activities encouraging children to draw round shapes, colour in patterns, to count objects, to read letters, and to play with the cut out games in the centre pull-out pages.
Photographs of familiar objects were used extensively to create images which looked like real objects sitting on the page. These, together with the hand-made three dimensional letters and numbers produced a friendly, informal style. This allowed parents plenty of scope to talk to their child about all the different things depicted on each page.
The series was produced in large print runs over a period of five years - more than 200,000 in all. Although never intended for use in schools many early years teachers bought these books and separated out the pages for classroom use.
